Mike Byrne

Mike in the studio, 2009
Wikipedia article

Born February 6, 1990, Mike Byrne was hired by the Pumpkins at age 19 to replace former drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, from out of thousands of online applicants- before that he had been working at McDonald's to save up for college. He played with the Spirits in the Sky in 2009 (along with additional drummer Kerry Brown), and had his first Pumpkins show on April 17, 2010.

Mike grew up in Beaverton, OR, a suburb of Portland. He was a big fan of the Pumpkins before joining the band, and his YouTube username (created 3 years before becoming a Pumpkin himself) was MarquisinSpadez, a reference to Pumpkins song "Marquis in Spades" from the Zero EP. Before joining the Pumpkins, he played in local Portland-area bands The Mercury Tree (another TSP reference), Moses, Smell the Roses and Bearcubbin'!. He has been publicly praised by Billy as being a "powerhouse", and won #1 "Up and Coming" drummer in Modern Drummer magazine's 2011 Reader's Poll. He also pays homage to his humble roots as a McDonald's employee, by using McDonald's "M" logo stickers to label his gear.

Mike has both a twitter account and a blog, both of which are used rather infrequently.

In a June, 2014 interview discussing upcoming albums which featured Tommy Lee, Billy said that Mike was no longer part of the band.
