3.2 First appearance

The first show billed as the Smashing Pumpkins consisted of Billy (on bass),
James, and a drum machine at Chicago 21 on July 9, 1988. D'arcy's first show was
a month later (Aug. 10) at the Avalon, and the full original lineup with Jimmy on
drums was at the Metro on October 5. The band's first radio show was Nov. 19 of
the same year, although Jimmy was not present.
